How To Reset Air Conditioning Unit
No one wants to feel uncomfortable in his or her home when the temperature starts to warm up. With a working AC, this usually isn’t a problem. 1. Turn Off Your AC
The first thing you’ll want to do is to turn your AC off. To do so, switch your thermostat to the “off” position. Next, you’ll want to switch off the AC unit directly. There should be a shutoff switch on your AC. Turning off your AC will help prevent getting shocked or experiencing other problems.
2. Switch Off Your Circuit Breaker Box
Along with turning off your AC, you’ll want to make sure there’s no power running to your unit. To do so, find your circuit breaker box, and switch off the power to your AC.
3. Wait 60 Seconds
After switching off the power to your AC, you’ll want to wait 60 seconds. Once the time is up, you can switch the power to your AC back on.
4. Turn AC Back On
After turning the power to your AC back on, you’ll want to wait another 60 seconds. Doing so will let your AC reset itself. Once the minute is up, turn your AC switch back on. You should switch your thermostat to “cool” as well.
5. See If It’s Working
Now that you’ve reset your air conditioning unit, you’ll want to make sure it’s working. To do so, set your thermostat to the desired temperature. This step will take a few minutes. Once you feel cool air blowing out of your vents, you’ll know your AC is working properly.
